Recently, talking about America, some may think that I’m against America. A total folly. It is exactly the opposite. I really enjoyed my travel in America and I’m grateful for the excellent welcome of the American people towards me. Times ago, I wrote down that « I was in America, even before I was born ». At the moment, those words just rushed out of my mind instinctively and imposed their presence to me. And I accepted them.
This is the miracle of writing: sometimes, you will find yourself writing things coming from nowhere. You just have to receive them and let them be without obstacle. And you know what, I went in America to discover America and Americans. But, guess what, I found myself just like being at home – at last – despite the bumpy shaky journey I experienced from my hosts who happened to be Cameroonians in America.
Since I went back in France, I forgot to tell America and the American people : THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONVIVIALITY AND KINDNESS. THANK YOU FOR BEING WHAT YOU ARE. I WAS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN IN PRIVATE, BUT YOU HELPED ME TO KEEP MY HEAD OUT OF THE DUST AND WATER. THIS GIVES ME THE OCCASION TO SAY THANK YOU TO PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR STANDING IN FAVOR OF NET NEUTRALITY TO ALLOW PEOPLE LIKE ME TO EXIST WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION. THANK YOU.
I had to say this to avoid any misunderstanding or misinterpretation, so as to move forward peacefully and in total confidence. I’m not and can’t be your enemy. I’m a friend and a member. Sometimes we may disagree. This is not a sign of hate and will never be.
So, after Ted Cruz, here is the other presidential announcement :
« I am running for president, » Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky announced on his website. He will make a formal announcement around noon ET in Louisville.
Since riding the tea party wave into the Senate in 2010, Paul has carefully built a brand of mainstream libertarianism — dogged advocacy of civil liberties combined with an anti-interventionist foreign policy and general support for « family values » — that he bets will create a coalition of younger voters and traditional Republicans to usher him into the White House.
Coincidentally, Ukraine is a great issue on the presidential road.
Time after his annoucement, the Senator announced this :
« We’ve come to take our country back from special interests, » Sen. Rand Paul said today, announcing his presidential bid at a rally in Louisville, Kentucky, the Republican senator’s home state.
He pushed for congressional term limits during his announcement, telling supporters, « We limit the president to two terms; it’s about time we limit the terms of Congress. » Paul will immediately hit the campaign trail, swinging through New Hampshire, South Carolina, Iowa and Nevada — the states that traditionally vote first in the primaries and caucuses. INEQUALITIES AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION. THE CASE OF CHICAGO.
« Challenger Jesus « Chuy » Garcia says he has called Mayor Rahmm Emanuel to concede the runoff election in Chicago and congratulate him.
Chicago’s first-ever runoff was necessary after Emanuel failed to get more than 50% of the vote in February.
Chicago is beset by growing financial problems, including a $20 billion pension crisis and $300 million operating budget shortfall. Emanuel, President Obama’s former chief of staff, sought to paint former Cook County Commissioner Garcia as inexperienced and unfit for the job of fixing the city’s financial mess.
Emanuel’s critics said steps he has taken to fix the economy — like closing public health clinics, 50 public schools and installing red light cameras to raise fees – have only made the problem worse for the city’s low-income and minority communities ».
POLICING. SOUTH CAROLINA.
« A South Carolina police officer has been charged with murder after video surfaced that appears to show him on Saturday shooting an unarmed man who was running away.
Michael Slager, a white officer with the North Charleston Police Department, was arrested Tuesday, according to a statement from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. The shooting victim was black. If found guilty of murder, Slager could face up to life in prison or death ».
WEB SECURITY. THE WHITE HOUSE UNDER CYBERINTRUSION.
« Russian hackers behind the damaging cyberintrusion of the State Department in recent months used that perch to penetrate sensitive parts of the White House computer system, according to U.S. officials briefed on the investigation.
The White House has said the breach affected an unclassified system. But that gave the hackers access to such sensitive information as real-time nonpublic details of the President’s schedule.
The State Department computer system has been bedeviled by signs that despite efforts to lock them out, the Russian hackers have been able to re-enter the system. One official says the Russians have « owned » the State Department system for months ».
